This photograph shows Boers posing with their rifles. The man in the lower right seems to be carrying a Westley Richards “Improved Martini.” He is flanked by two men carrying actual Martini-Henry rifles. The fellow with shifty eyes in the back row has a Martini-Henry with the loading lever pulled down. There’s also a few other carbines, rifles, and shotguns on display.
This photograph was found on Pinterest, but I can’t find additional information. I believe it dates to the First Boer War of 1880-1881, as the Second Boer War of 1899-1902 featured more updated rifles, and I don’t see any ZAR Martinis, Mausers, or Lee-Metfords.
