Keeper Note: This material was written for White Leviathan, an epic Call of Cthulhu campaign set onboard a Kingsport whaling ship in 1844. This page is intended for the Keeper, and should not be read by anyone planning to play White Leviathan as a player character. It contains MAJOR SPOILERS.

Work In Progress This critical section will be finalized once White Leviathan’s core narrative has been completed and polished. It’s in pretty good shape right now; and provides a solid understanding of each player character’s narrative arc. However, as I polish the manuscript, new variables might be introduced, requiring some edits, additions, or subtractions from this document. In particular, each character’s “Endgame” sequence may expanded after the section on the Abyss has been finalized. Sections highlighted in yellow are particularly subject to change.

The cast of White Leviathan includes eight pre-generated player characters of varying degrees of complexity. Some, like Quakaloo and Milton Redburn, are fairly straightforward: what you see is what you get. Others, like Joseph Coffin and Ulysses Dixon, have unexpected surprises waiting around the Horn. Three characters—Tobias Beckett, Leland Morgan, and Rachel Ward—begin the campaign concealing important facts from their fellow players. And then there’s Montgomery Lowell, a character with so many secrets even his player doesn’t know them all!

This section offers the Keeper a closer look at each player character, exposes their hidden secrets, and offers suggestions on managing their gradual development. This ranges from ideas for roleplaying Sanity loss to game mechanics for Morgan’s transformation into a Deep One. The Keeper should be familiar with each character profile before reading this section. Needless to say, players should never be privy to this material, so if you plan to play White Leviathan, stop reading now!

The Quiddity Crew

The Crew’s NPC profiles hold no dire secrets, and may be photocopied and handed out to players at the Keeper’s discretion. However, there are a few secrets that should remain with the Keeper.

The following crewmen are suffering from Stage 1 Call of Dagon: Henry Swain, Suresh Joshi, Duke Nelson, and William Crow.

Joshi’s History
Suresh Joshi’s history with P.H. Whipple is addressed under Whipple’s NPC profile, and includes murder and cannibalism.
