Lore Scathanna
English, by Various Authors, 1620–1844.
The Lore Scathanna is a book of spells, incantations, and magical recipes passed down to Rachel Ward from her mother, Margaret Hart. The name is Irish Gaelic in origin, and is derived from Leabhar na Scáthanna, roughly translated as “Book of Shadows.”

History
According to family legend, the original book was begun in Ireland in 1620, and has been passed down the matriarchal line for two centuries, carefully copied anew every few generations. Carefully wrapped in oilskin, Rachel’s book is thirty years old, and shows signs of mildew. It’s high time she continue the family tradition and recopy the book herself! If Rachel loses possession of her lorebook, she may still cast spells, but the cost in magic points is doubled.
*Black-Handled Knife
Rachel enchanted her own witches’ knife in the presence of her mother, sacrificing a goat and using a steel blade with a garnet set into the handle. She invested it with the full 5 Power points, a deduction already reflected in her character statistics.
