South Shore

The lower arm of Kingsport’s crescent-shaped harbor, South Shore is more sandy and beach-like than Harborside. Between Hawthorne Street and Pickering Street, the commercial section of South Shore is called the Panhandle, and has a similar character to Downtown and Inner Harbor. Past Pickering, things become more residential, and the farther reaches of the shore grant beautiful vistas of the ocean. Known as Stratton Point, some of Kingsport’s wealthiest families have mansions here, most sharing a private marina in Stratton Cove.
