The Yards

Beginning just above the docks and sprawling across the eastern end of Harborside, the Yards are the beating heart of Kingsport’s maritime industry. The two largest shipyards are the Illsley and Tuttle yards, but these great families are just as often partners as rivals, and share many of the same resources. The Yards feature drydocks, sawmills, lumber yards, blacksmiths, coppersmiths, cooperages, sailmakers, netmakers, ropewalks, chandlers, warehouses, and all manner of providers and suppliers. Relatively quiet at night, during the day the Yards are alive with industry, the sound of hammers and saws blending with the cries of newspaper vendors, costermongers, and matchgirls.
