Martini-Henry .577/450 “necked down” cartridge. The .455″ lead bullet is encased in a .577″ brass foil cartridge soldered to an iron base. Assembled by the orphans of slain British soldiers; but proved lousy in battle and became difficult to extract after the rifle fouled.
